Hello everyone! So PT testing in Texas is no longer free. I had to contact an authorized agent to inquire about PT testing my flock. I thought I read once before that they don't test every chicken only 30%but this lady is telling me she has to test every single chicken and then come back to test the younger ones when they reach 16 weeks. I have over 70 chickens. She's wanting to charge several hundred dollars. My question is am I getting ripped off or do they really have to test every chicken. She also asked for all my receipts for ones I bought at tractor supply. That's so rediculous! Who keeps those?

Did you get your birds tested and if so what was the deal with the lady coming out and testing every bird? I am curious because I would like to get my girls tested.

Each state manages their testing program differently. They test for different things and have different procedures. With the push to cut regulations, cut taxes, and cut government services any of this can change at any time. You need to find out what is current in your state. Most states have a website that will tell you what the current situation is or a contact so you can ask. Another possible source of current information is to contact your county extension office.

This is something you need to check on yourself, don't rely on old information and especially don't rely on someone from a different state.
