My 3 daughters and I just set up our coop about a month ago. We bought 3 laying hens from the local feed store so we could start getting eggs right away. It has been great up until recently as we have lost two to a mysterious predator. Looks like we will have to tighten our security and get a few more birds! The streets are crowded with local chickens and roosters, but we hope to raise friendly egg-laying beauties to enjoy! I just posted a thread about the loss of our birds...see that thread if interested. I have already learned so much from this sight, I can't wait to hear from my post.
