Pullet or Roo?

Hi all! Some of you may have read my question/post about Rosie my speckled sussex. Well now I'm wondering about her five week old sister, Daisy. I feel more confident that she's a she than Rosie is. Let me know what you think. (If you didn't read Rosie's post you can find it on my profile under Boy or Girl??)

She does look like a pullet

They both look like pullets to me.

Still looks like a pretty pullet to me.

If you are still concerned, look at the "saddle" feathers on your bird. That's the feathers right in front of the tail. If she was male, she would have the beginnings of saddle feathers (see photo below, at far right side.). This photo was taken from feathers from our production reds.

(L-R) rooster tail feather, hen tail feather, hen saddle feather, rooster saddle feather.



As you can see, the males saddle feathers are much different in shape.
