If I order some pulleys from ideal when can I expect them to start laying?

    Day old chicks, no doubt.

Depending on breed, the average young female chicken will begin laying between 20-25 weeks.(5 1/2 months) Some hybrids begin earlier and some notoriously slow developers won't lay for up to 7 months. Hope that helps.

Ok got it. Now I need a starter box. All this new info is actually kind of fun.
