Are those supposed to be removed or are they made to stay on for the life of the bird?

I've been wondering that and some of my 1 year old birds or older still have them. I don't think they harm the birds, but should they be removed?

I've never heard of wing bands. Is this a cultural thing? What country do you live in? Is this something that's only done where you live? Did your baby chicks have them when you got them? What's the purpose of them?

    Can you post pictures?

I know some breeders who wing band for ID purposes One can have them stamped with whatever name you want and they come numbered. You can get them colored as well. Generally they are put on as young chicks. They stay on for life.

Here is one place to get them.

I thought this was common practice

The stores have different bins of birds. Some are St. Run, some are sexed

The sexed females have wing bands. Judt something to make sure you get 95% guaranteed hens.
