Hello everyone. I'm new on here and new to raising chickens. We purchased 3 golden comets, 3 black australorps, and 2 road island reds on Thursday. We were told they were all hens, but now I'm wondering. Here's a pic of the chicks of anyone has any insight. [IMG]

Greetings from Kansas, Kristen9907, and [IMG]! Great to have you in our flock! I am a very poor chicken breed guesser and they look a little young anyway. But you might post the pic in this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
The folks that patrol that thread are great at telling gender and breed! Best of luck and thanks for joining BYC!!

Hello and welcome to BYC. I'd suggest waiting until the chicks are 6 weeks old before posting for more definitive answers.

    All the best

G’Day from down under kristen9907 [IMG] Welcome!

Besides supa-doopa cute.. at this age there is probably not much we can say about your little ones.

As suggested, give it a good 5-6 weeks and if you are not sure then, post on the Forum redsoxs has given you a link to.

Fingers crossed that the news is good!

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]
