9 weeks old. Are these pullets? RIR? Or production red? [IMG]

I would guess pullets, and RIR. Not really a great photo though.

They could both be pullets but there not Rhode Island Reds.
I say that with the amount of white still showing and the lighter red color that they are production reds.

I've had RIR that look like that at 9 weeks but I think they might be production reds, hm.. Do you have any other pictures?

Much too light and one has no "horn", that dark, dark coloration, on the beak. The only way to get a true RI Red is from a person who loves, preserves and breeds the birds to the Standard. Feed stores and hatcheries don't have them.

But, if eggs from backyard layers are what you're looking for, it's pretty hard to beat a production red.

X 2 -- lovely chicks, but not RIR (very common with hatchery birds sold as such) - which has advantages if one is looking for production.

They're definitely not RIRs. They are probably Production Red pullets, but a full body profile showing the tail would help confirm this.

They look like pullets to me. They are not purebred Rhode Island Reds; they are probably Production Reds.
