My 5wk old Black Australorp...really hoping it is a 'she', because i just love the sweet, curious, personality.
So we are very new to chickens, & ive been doing alot of research. So far we have at least one chick that is not the breed we were told it was. Now im doubting the Black Australorp though...all pictures of Australorp chicks i have seen have some white puffs while so young...ours hatched completely black & only now at 5wks old is showing a little white on the neck/chest, aswell as some red throughout its wings...is this normal or have we perhaps got something other than the Black Australorp we were told?
At 2wks old
Today at 5wks old
The BA above looks like a rooster. Unfortunately. Here is a pick of my purebred cockerel! Meet "Trivee Yankee Doodle"
My Curley Sue. Named for the first two feathers at the base of her tail that are facing backwards, making it look like curls.
