I Would love to see pictures of sex-linked birds created using different colors within the same breed.

Thinking Wyandottes, Brahmas, Plymouth Rocks, Marans, Polish, Leghorns, Ameraucanas, etc. are examples of breeds in which this should be possible.

Thanks!

Barred Rocks and Cuckoo Marans are naturally sexlinked already. Males being lighter, females darker. You can tell them apart from hatch with a little experience, and definitely by a few weeks old as the feathers come in.

I was looking for for, say, a partridge rock over a barred rock kind of thing. I know about the sex linking qualities or barred and cuckoo birds. Thanks!

I guess I don't see how they would be that different looking within their same breed compared to similar sexlinks.

After all, two heavyish dual purpose breeds such as BO x BR wouldn't look that much different than any other buffish colored dual purpose x a barred dual purpose.
If you wanna get really interesting, I have some Brown Leghorn x Cuckoo Marans sexlinks - they are kinda unique looking compared to your usual dual purpose x dual purpose (ie RIR x BR) type cross.

Maybe soon I'll hatch some Cuckoo Marans eggs from my Black Copper Marans roo though. The BCMs are heavier (breeder lines) compared to my hatchery Cuckoos, so that will have more to do with it, because "breed" is loosely defined when you have hatchery birds. Maybe someone else has pictures though, so I'll be watching.
I like black sexlinks

We have brahma/barred rock pullets that all look brahma (pea comb, foot feathering, body shape) and are gentle giants but are black sexlink colored. A few have very little of the gold leakage and look like black brahmas. We had some of the roos for awhile too who were quite striking.

I love brahmas. Which can you cross for pure brahma sexlinks and what kind can you expect?

By using a Silver hen and a Wheaten or Buff roo. I think you could use most any color roo except white, silver or lavender, but the Wheaten would be best.

Or course I forgot all about the silvers! I was wracking my brain trying to figure out how in the world you get get sex-linked Ameraucanas.

Thanks for the help!
