Are RIR eggs usually purple with white spots?
I was expecting a solid shade of brown like the Buff Orpingtons, but this is Rhodies first egg in the front...?

I got eggs like this. I feed my free choice calcium. The only conclusion I can come up with is, some like to eat a lot more calcium so they end up depositing white specks all over their eggs. At lease that is what mine look like. I can even feel the texture of the spots on some eggs.

If you can get her to lay 5 more, they would make one heck of an auction. I'd bid on them for sure. Nice looking egg!

Speckles are pretty normal. She will probably start laying more consistent browns, as she ages. I was hoping my young RIR hen would continue to lay these spotted eggs, she did, up until she was killed. :( I only got a handful of eggs out of her before she was slaughtered by a predator. She would have probably aged and laid solid brown later on.

Your egg is lovely.

How much do you think people would pay for 6 unfertilized pullet bullets?
