Purple eggs?

    Does anyone know of a breed of chicken that lays a purple, or close to purple colored egg?

    the americana does but if you get them as chicks you won't know what color they lay until they lay their first and after that the color will always be that.

    Easter Egger Easter Egger Easter Egger....lol. Easter Eggers lay all sorts of colors, Ameraucanas lay blue/green. EE's come from Hatcheries, Ameraucanas come from breeders. I've never heard of an EE laying purple eggs, but I guess it can happen. Not bright purple, but lavender maybe. I have a Black Star that lays dark brown eggs with purple speckles on it. [​IMG]
