After a lifetime of trying to breed a purple silkie my latest is amazing.
Finding birds with that recessive purple gene and breeding them is almost
impossible. There have been so many failures and I was beginning to lose
faith. When this guy hatched he was black but eventually his purple tint
    started to come out.

Now I need to find a hen that will mate with him and carry the gene through.

Quote:Photoshopping? Is that like shopping for a picture or something? I'm
not very savvy at that tech lingo.

And for those naysayers I didn't use the same hair color that woman on
    the Christian TV channel uses.

I need Tiffany, Elderoo or Greyfields to help explain the gene stuff. They
could explain it in a scientifical sorta way.

I just drink beer and mate with chickens, I mean mate my chickens.

Don't you mean you breed your chickens? Since the chickens are the ones doing the mating?

And photo chopping is when you alter an image after you take it by using a popular program called adobe photoshop.

Looks like a dyed black silkie from the looks of leg and toe feather pigments. [IMG]

Quote:Thanks!!! I'm gonna try and clone him if I can't get him to mate with another
chicken. I may try a white silkie so it will be a lighter shade of purple. I'm
not sure if it will work this way but it's worth a shot. He is a horny little guy.

No--it's not the genetics I'm worried about....it's just....it's a PURPLE CHICKEN! It's like seeing a pregnant mule! Or....or....or a cow in Brooklyn! He's AMAZING! I think you should clone him. Seriously wicked. Clone several of him!

I'm really glad everyone like him but I've got to be careful.

    This is my last clone:
