I have just got my first chickens - three tatty ex-bats called Tinker, Fraidy and Lola). One of them (who was the boss) is being pecked at the base of her tail where she has no feathers and it's really red and sore looking. I've tried Nettex Anti-peck but it doesn't seem to be making any difference.

Purple spray is my next plan, but there are loads available. Which would you recommend for treating the soreness and stopping the pecking.

Any other tips gratefully received.

Thanks

Just trying to repost this to help get an answer. I'm in the UK and posted my question whilst most of you were fast asleep now it's way down the list.

I hope someone can help poor tinker.

I'm not sure that Nustock Cream is available in the UK, but if you can find it or make your own, that will cover the irritated area, promote healing, and because of the bad taste, helps to prevent pecking. It is made of pine oil and sulfur powder, has antifungal properties, and many people make there own and thin it some with Vaseline.
