putting newly hatched chicks with broody mama?

I have incubated and hatched chicks, and mama was also sitting on some eggs. She has 6 chicks with her right now and is a great Mama!!! Can I put my chicks with her? If so, how many is too much and how many is reasonable for her to take care of? She is in our garage in a "maturnity ward" so she has the chicks all to herself in a safe enviroment. If I can put the chicks with her... what is the process on doing that? THANKS!!!
Also, all the chicks are the same age. Anywhere from 1 to 2 days old.

Many broody hens will adopt other chicks about the same age as theirs the first few days. I would give it a try. The best way is usually just to slip the new chicks under her at night as quietly as possible. Do be there first thing in the morning to keep a close eye on them to be sure everything goes well. How many depends on the size of the hen and the space you have to keep her in. Most standard size broodies I've had can handle 12 chicks no problem, usually about half that for bantams...
