I'm new at this so please bear with me.I've got 5 year old chickens and 6 approx 8 week old.I was trying to figure out how to put them togeather without causing harm to the younger ones and this is whatI came up with.I placed a small run inside my main run using a dog house as a shelter.I let the babies run inside the small run for about 2 weeks.I then let the babies out by lifting the chicken wire up off of the ground high enough for them to get in and out.The bigger chickens can't get in when they run in for protection.This has worked out great.Theygot tappedon the head a few times,But now they get along good.The babies watch out for the older chickens and stay out of their way.Theystill go back in their small run for their feed and water,and are getting the natural food thatthe Good Lord provides them.It's a blast watching them.
