PVC/ Beak Time watering cups waterer, heating question

Hi, I'm needing a winter waterer. It must last in cold weather, Southern Michigan. Do you think I could use heating tape and insulation this (cup waterer and PVC) would work in the winter?

I suspect the cup valve will freeze

I have seen them freeze in Ky so they probably not going to work in Michigan, even with heat tape the pipe may stay warm but the cup valves are far more exposed.

This one will work with a submersible water heater. These nipples do not retain water like vertical nipples and are spring loaded.
