Quail Brooder: Wire floor size

Building new brooders. Do i want to go with 1/4x1/4 or 1/2x1/2 for the floor. They will be kept on this wire until they are moved into with er there breeding cages or the growout cages, so basically 3-4 weeks. Thanks!

I'd go with the 1/4" unless you plan on putting something (like shelf liner) over the wire for when they are really small. Their droppings won't go through 1/4" wire when they get a little bigger, but 1/2" wire would be too big for their tiny feet when they are >2 weeks old.
