Hi, I have a Quail that is blind in both eyes, partly in one, I will try and show a picture, He is eating and drinking very well, just seems to have problems with vision, I have taken him to a poultry specialist, Had some swabs done, been on two different courses of treatment, Will have to go back again, No improvement tho.

Does he live with other quail? Any differences between how he and the other quail grew up? How long has he been blind?

Hi, He is currently on his own, He has been like this for around 8 weeks, Im currently cleaning his eyes with sterile water, He eats and drinks fine tho.
I have tried two lots of eye treatment from the vets which has cleared up a little, but not fully.

P.S. I will take him back to the vets in the new year for another appointment, I see a poultry specialist.

What treatment have you tried? Terramycin?

Time for smoked quail?

Never eat a sick or wounded bird, humans are susceptible to many poultry disease and thats one way to expose yourself. Also many wounds contain staph bacteria which can cause serious health issues for people.

Hi

I have tried Isathal, Tiacil, and some sterile water. So far, He is going thru a molt currently, A little later than all the other birds.

The vets said he has ecoli and staph in his eye after the swab was taken.

I'm thinking maybe you should ask yourself if this little guy is worth multiple trips to a specialist and multiple meds? Time to cull?
