Quail Sexing without "Foam" or Plumage traits...

Well, I'm a big baby so I'm taking all of my extra quail males to someone else to "take care of" tomorrow morning. The problem is I don't have feather sexable breeds of quail and they don't appear to be producing foam (or I'm doing something wrong). Would it be safe to assume that the quail with naked bums or missing head feathers are my over-loved girls? Or would they do that to the other males as well because there are too many boys?

They will do that to other males. How old are they?

Easiest way than those two is to sit there watching and if one crows, tag it or put it in a different cage

Thats the age I normally vent sexing at

If you can’t vent sex, try putting each bird one at a time in a box or bin alone. Usually after a few minutes totally alone, the males will crow. It’s not 100% guaranteed that all of them will crow, but a good amount do.

I can confirm this works..if you put a young male in with a known female then move them to a cage alone..they should crow.
