Question about electric fencing

I wanted to get some efencing up quickly but at some point I can probably run it better. Is it going to diminish effectiveness if leave an extra lead of wire and just wrap it back on itself in case I need extra later?

I guess I could just run/splice another run but I'm just wondering if I leave a couple of extra feet if that's going to be a bad thing for a temp solution.

That is not a problem as long as you keep it taunt. You can also add on more wire if you make it too short. Regular bare electric fence wire is very easily mended. The plastic and woven wire combo is less so.
