Question about pellet bedding

When the pellets turn into powder, do the chicks try to eat it? My chicks seem to try and eat anything powdery, so I worry about them eating the bedding after it gets powdery. Couldn't that hurt them?

I dont know never used pellets. But I would assume it should be changed when it turns to powder.

They love to scratch in it.
They also peck at anything.
I am sure they have all tried to eat it already.

I used pellets- and they were great. The chicks DO peck at everything- but I never saw them eating the dust. I would scoop poo daily and changed the pellets weekly.
