Question of the Day - Monday, September 1st, 2025

I have been extremely lucky in my life, and I do not know what it is like to be thought of as someone who is smart, so I guess the choose was made for me a long time ago ...although, I may have gained some wisdom through my experiences over the years?

It could be that being lucky brings a measure of happiness (with many good memories), which I am personally more grateful for than having the ability to achieve things using intellect.

Take my photography for example... I am still trying to wrap my head around all the "numbers" involved in making my lenses work with my cameras and with light, so most of the time I give up and put my cameras on a lot of 'auto' settings. And I have truly being lucky in somehow managing to capture worthy photographs which make me happy.

[And as I am typing this, I am formulating a thought that (for me at least) luck can only be recognised in retrospect - after the fact - and it is perhaps, in some aspects, that when people take precognition of (rely on) their luck that they become unlucky? So maybe the whole question of 'luck' versus 'smart' can become mute, because if you consciously choose luck then luck won't happen? So therefore the smart choose is to choose smart.]

Well, I think we are all lucky ...to have such an amazing forum, BackYard Chickens.
