I rinse them off right before using, if they need it.

I'll wash them before eating if they're dirty. If they're too dirty to have on the counter, wash and refrigerate.

Wipe them off or wash them if they've got poop or crud on them. Otherwise, no. I don't eat the shell so it's not a big deal.

Same. If they are super poopy then I wash them, but otherwise I don't bother to.
