Went to check the broody and the egg thats been hatching all day. The chick has its eyes closed, just laying there but peeping a lot. Mom pecked it a couple times but didnt hurt it. I moved it under her as she seemed more attentive to the eggs than the new chick. Should I be concerned. I may go out later and turn on the heat lamp although its not real close to her, can you tell its my first hatch.

I'm sorry I can't help you. All my eggs go in the bator. Hope everything turns out ok.

Let mama do what mamas do.

    Very few harm their chicks.

Some die and that's natures way.

Quote:Well seeing how I have a large bator and put in 101 eggs, some were for someone else, but I ended up with 67 chicks, I think. I now have silkes in the bator again and waiting on more silkes and turkeys for DH. LOL I better not get any more. I will have chicks coming out my ears. [IMG]

Let us know how the momma and the chick make out.
