Hi! I'm new to BYC and new to chickens! I bought 6 Red Pullets from TSC on April 20, 2011 thinking they were all going to be NHRs and RIRs. Most of them do look like those breeds, except for Beep. Beep has a base color of a New Hampshire on her sides, neck, and head. But, on her back, she looks like a Buff Laced Polish, but with light red instead of buff. I can't post pictures because I'm new, but I will when I can!

Thanks,

Production reds are what a lot of hatcheries will sell as Rhode Island Reds. They are similar in type and carriage to RIRs but are typically much lighter to where they are close to the same color as a New Hampshire rather than the deep mahogany color a RIR is supposed to be. This comes from breeding towards production rather than toward a breed standard.

This is the best pic we had! She is the closest to the camera.
When you click on the pic it gets bigger.

Those are red sex links, or Red Stars as I like to call them because it sounds nice. Two of them look buff colored. Are they Orpingtons?
