Question on when to add chick with mom to the flock.

How old should the chicks be before letting them in with the other hens and rooster. I don't want the others to hurt the chicks.

I just slowly started letting my hen out of her coop (kept her locked for about 1 week) for short spurts....she was a great momma and protected her babies just fine...though I had no roosters.
