Some folks like to hatch with the eggs up in cartons, others like to hatch them they way they lay in the incubator. There can be advantages to the egg cartons as there is less egg shells rolling around as the chicks are hatching. And the eggs won't crowd each other being jostled around as the chicks hatch and push the eggs into one corner. I like the natural way of the hatch so that the eggs lay on their sides. I think it is easier for the chick to zip out of the egg. But this is my preference. I don't think it makes any difference in the hatch however. [IMG]

Frank If You Hatch Them Upright Your Hatch % Will Be Higher...this Is Due To The Positioning Of The Egg Itself As It Helps Greatly Reduce The En Utero Drownings That Happen

You can leave them in the turners and they will do fine. I have LGs, hovabators, you name it and this works.

Do you wait until the turners are level then unplug them, at Lock Down??

Quote:ABSOLUTELY! WHEN I USED TABLE TOP BATORS AND SET 1 LG BATCH ALL TOGATHER THATS WHAT I USED TO DO... NOW I USE SEPERATE HATCHER TO FREE UP SPACE IN THE BATORS, SO I USE THE CARTONS/ FLATS [IMG]

EITHER WAY OR ANY OTHER SYSTEM YOU COME UP WITH TO KEEP THE EGGS LG END UP FOR LOCKDOWN AND HATCH WILL ALL WORK THE SAME... EGG TRAYS OR CARTONS SEEM TO WORK BEST SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY HOLD THE EGGS MORE SECURELY SO THEY DONT GET KNOCKED OVER BY THE EARLY BIRDS WHILE THEY ARE TEARING AROUND INSIDE THE BATOR [IMG]
