are they watertight? any surfaces of the neoprene been treated so as to make them waterproof? are they rather stiff or are they flexible and floppy? how many hours per day should they be worn or what do some of you owners do? thanks

I think Nettie could best answer that. They are not stiff, they are soft - but firm enough with traction on the bottom. They have two velcro fasteners one that goes on the web part and one that goes around the leg. I have used them on my duck who had surgery for bumblefoot and they are wonderful. Here is a picture of an older style. She has updated them since I bought this pair. I believe she has both open toed and closed toed. I might add the quality is excellent.

We love them here. We've now used them on two of our ducks.

    Here's Lucy modeling her pair.

I don't think I have a pic of Splish with his on but I love them and the ducks get used to them quickly, in minutes.

Sorry, the title caught my attention....I am new to all this ...WHY would you use duck shoes? Please tell me there is a real reason and not just dress up like ppl do with dogs? ( The thought gave me a little giggle...)

I got a few pairs for my ducks for keeping their feet cleaner the night before a show!

They only wear them for a few hours- but it sure beats having to get out the toothbrush and scrubbing those feet in the morning before they go into the cages for judging.

But many others use them when treating a duck for bumblefoot or other foot problems.

They are very cute too though... I do have 1 duck who owns a very cute little purple rain jacket though...The idea for that is when she goes to poultry displays..Just something cute for the kids to see.

Quote:Our Lucy and Splish both had bumblefoot and these shoes really do help with the problem. Think of it as a medical necessity.

Yes - it is not for dress up - mine had surgery on her foot and it helped keep it dry and clean so it would heal - doesn't hurt to make a fashion statement while your healing though : )

Netti who is a member on here - has made all of the ones being worn in the above photos. I dont know of anyone else who does make them..They are a wonderful idea for damaged duckie feet.
