    Hello all..

I adopted a rescued older chick -- I'd guesstimate 2-3 months old. He/she was bought at an animal market here as a pet, but once they figured out a chicken doesn't make a good apartment pet the poor thing was left out on the street.

I brought him home, but saw that he was itching, head was scaly, and there was a white substance on one eye (on the actual eyeball). I took him to my local animal clinic, he was diagnosed with mites and a secondary eye infection. The vet put some kind of medication on the back of his neck, gave me drops to put in his eye twice a day for a week, and an antibiotic powder to mix in his drinking water.

It's been ten days, the chick is looking much, much better. My question is how long should I keep him in his isolated area? I will eventually move him into a larger coop, to be kept separate from my main flock until he gets a bit bigger. I have another chick of comparable age/size waiting there for him as a companion.

Thanks in advance for any advice..
