i have a grey japanese bantam roo (very young) and 6 red sexlink pullets, would the roo when he is older be able to mate with the hens.
i also have a bantam pullet would he just concentrate on her.
im new to this so am wondering about the mechanics of the whole mating process.

I have full grown orpingtons...I have one little silkie mix roo who thinks he is second in command of the flock

Anyway, when the rooster has a hen down he will run up and mount her but his body is too short to do anything but he doesn't seem to know that.

One of our members here is giving me two silkie hens to keep him company today so he and Capt. Jack (another silkie roo) will have "their own flock" so to speak.

Thanks for that Ozark hen, i was worried that id get fertilized eggs which i really dont want.
when my ladies realize there supposed to be laying eggs, not just eating everthing in sight lol
