We're not sure what happened, he sudden went listless then we realized he'd gone completely blind. He started tilting his head to the side more every day. We're thinking stroke or tumor. No swellings, no smell, no discharge of any kind and it was truly one day absolutely normal the next day blind.
Unfortunately it almost kills my hopes of getting this rare breed going as a viable flock on our place. we have Clays son but he's barely a month old and this flock is far to inbred to use him at stud. If we can't find another source for them next spring the hens will have to go solo.
For now the Speck hens will go in with my Japanese for the winter and the nice new speck coop I busted my rump to finish will sit empty.
