This is a thread for anything and every thing about rabbits. I have a 8 month old Holland Lop buck that is my fur child.

They are both three years old and live in shed that we designed for rabbits

I’d post a pic of the inside but I don’t have any and it’s nighttime now...

Vet bills are expensive and their daily needs are expensive too.
Rabbits are definitely not “low maintenance”
I personally think they are harder to care for than dogs.
Which I also have.

That is an amazing shed!!!! It is so much better than any hutch. My lop, Norbert, is an inside, free-range rabbit. He is so spoiled. And you are so right about the vet bills. Rabbits are defiantly not “low matnance” pets. But they are so worth the cost and time required.

My little Ms Stoney. A blue Dutch. My neighbor traded her for a male and female guinea. She is around 3 yrs. She has a sweet personality and has her little area inside the chicken coop and up the ramp is her bedroom with a divided section in the coop for her. They and her both watch each other and even meet at the wire.

They ARE very soft, although if you want a rex as a pet you may be better off with a mini rex. The standards are quite large and the minis have nicer temperaments. The rex gene also makes their nails really skinny and sharp so their kicks have some serious extra umph, especially when they're a big bunny with chunky leg muscles.

There's a lot of good info on that Medvet page, although it's worth noting that their diet suggestions are best only for domestic house rabbits are are insufficient for rabbits kept for breeding or non climate controlled environments.
There's also some serious debate as to whether wire floors are better or worse for their health because an even slightly inadequately maintained bedding can cause serious foot problems rapidly, whereas many wire/mesh cage floors sore hocks problems can be solved with mats.
Having said that I think solid floors with bedding are better for other reasons. But as a health concern, mesh floors with a resting mat can be very good.
