We have notice a couple of hens missing well we found out why. We had a momma raccoon living in a hollwed out pine tree. The dog treed her last night and tried to scare it off with a pellet gun, no luck. This am Abbie treed her again just before it got one of our new hens. Dh came home and killed it; there was no way to relocate it, since it had gotten the taste of chicken. I have a question though could it have been stealing eggs while the hens were free ranging?
