This is a follow up to my posting of a raccoon in the coop that was trapped. We released him (hey- my daughter had a raccoon costume for Halloween)

Heard a screaming racket from the coop last night around 11pm. A coon was inside the coop, just resting on the next box. Not afraid of me in the least

I decided to open the coop door and make a bunch of noise and shine a flashlight in his eyes. He still hung around for a half-hour or so, stretched out like he owned the place. Finally he left.

I humanely relocated him in a remote area off the Cape.

You do realize you live in an area that actually has a "Rabies Task Force " , that actually puts out oral rabies vaccine (ORV) baits to reduce the incidence of raccoon rabies up to twice a year. Calm and "friendly" behavior can be a symptom. Do you know if that raccoon received the "orv" before you relocated it off the Cape? http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20111021/NEWS/110210327/-1/rss02 http://www.aphis.usda.gov/newsroom/2011/04/rabbies_vaccine_ma.shtml Also "Massachusetts law prohibits the capture and re-location of wildlife. Often people want to catch a problem animal and release it elsewhere. It is illegal to move any live wild animal from one area to another. " http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/wildlife/living/moving_wildlife.htm

My kids would want to save every animal I catch,so I no longer show them what I caught! Edited to add I just caught my 15th coon.

Well I'll be one to say thank you for releasing him. I don't think you'll exactly get busted for posting a YouTube video.

Your point was already made. No need to pound it into the dust with snide remarks, please.
