Raising chickens in Hawaii

I would love to know if anyone has had experience with raising chickens in Hawaii big island very wet side

I have never heard this before, I don't have red fire ants. Are they a problem on the Big Island? Are you on Hilo side?

I'm in Haiku, Maui and it is very rainy what questions do you have? I have RIR, Comet, and Black Marans.

I have been planning on getting chickens for quite awhile and the pest guy was out the other day and told my husband he would never have chickens because they attract red fire ants. I am wondering if this is true ? Have you had any problems?

Yes I have heard they are a big problem but I have yet to see one since I have lived here . He said there poop attracts them.

When I raised chickens in wet, humid Florida we had fire ants, but the chickens didn't attract them. The ants were there first.
