Raising silkies for show in cages??

I'm going to start raising silkies for show. What would be better to raise them in, a coop or rabbit type cages with wire bottoms? Awhile back when I went to buy some silkies from a lady that was selling them she had them in wire cages. All the chicks in one and 2 in another that were older that she was going to sell. The cages took up a whole wall in her sun room but there wasn't birds in every cage.

Wire bottom cages seem bad for their feet. The only time I have ever seen these used is a break broodies. Don't know anything about showing birds though. Is it possible she was just using there for display and that it was not their permanent home? Seems odd and not the best environment for healthy birds.

I don't think it was just for display. She had coops outside with silkies in them. I think she was keeping them in there so they would be cleaner. But I could be wrong. I'm going to stick with making a coop. Seems like the best thing for the birds.
