Any one out there have problems with rats? Two times in the last few months something has taken an egg out of the nesting box, down the ramp, and eaten it in the pen. My coop is always locked up at night, so it happened after I let them out in the morning. I have a trap set every night and have killed a few, but now seems that the rats are on to the trap and are not going near it even when I move it around. My Seram hen is setting and I really worry that something might bother her when i'm not looking!

Hey there! I actually just wrote a post on something similiar. I had a really bad mouse problem so we started letting our ducks out at night. They ate all the mice they could find and begged me for more. If you have any they would probably do the same for rats.

I didn't even know ducks ate mice! :D would they eat rats? Rats are substantially larger.

They probably would! I have seen videos of them eating rather large mammals! [IMG]

Haha, I guess if they like it then it's a win-win!
