Went out to the hen house today and found this "special" egg..... I just wanted to share it with you all.... I guess she didnt want to work so hard today. Lol I put it next to a regular sized leghorn egg, and a penny, for comparison.....

How old is your hen that is laying the small ones - can you identify which one it is?

We have been averaging one small egg a day from our older hens - sometimes from an Araucana and other times a brown egg from one of the others. My 4 year old son loves to get his special eggs for breakfast. Any idea what causes this in an older bird?

They lay duds like that every once in a while. Cute little egg! I hope you have a young one to feed it to!
