Red around mouth and eyes

I use a metal feeder. Can the redness be from them scratching their faces on the metal? I keep it really full and have even taken it out but the redness comes and goes away. It looks painful 16/17 weeks old.

Just looks like a normal chicken face to me. Your seeing more red right now due to the lack of feathers. Once those grow in you will see less. Depending on hormones and such the red will be deeper colored.

Hi I think what is happening with your hen is that she is maturing and also that all chickens get red on their face. After this her comb will start growing and turning red and then she will start laying. Red on their face is also a sign of healthiness.
