I have a wonderful assortment of chicks, some a month old and others a week younger.

I have two roos (STILL not feathered except wings and very upright).

I also have a few that are going very red in the face, but are fully feathered. Heres the thing-a few are sexlinks (so DUH theyre pullets).

Can brighter combs and wattles be a sign of health as well, since my red and gold sexlinks are showing much redder faces?

Well if you got the sexlinks from a feed store chances are they might have been mixed up.

Pictures would help and also where you got them from.

They are MPC and Ideal chicks. Picture quality is hinky, but hopefully the red comes through

See, my positive rois arent red, but have dinosaur legs and are vastly different from my girls.

Red face birds are lower, smaller birds of the same age.

1st Barred chick: Cockerel
White chick: If White Leghorn, I'm not sure. If another breed, then cockerel.
Red Sex Links (if that is what they are): Pullets
Barred chick in last photo: Probably a pullet
Other chicks in last photo: Can't tell

Okay, went out this morning to "release the beasts" and now i only have one red faced rock (as opposed to four yesterday), but six red faced sexlinks. My positive roosters are pink today, but my suspected ones arent.

I know theres a descrepancy with sexing, but over half of an order this large is unlikely.

Little buggers are going to keep me guessing until i see an egg i suppose.
