I am raising a small group (5) of red jungle fowl. At just over 3 weeks first body coat of feathers coming in. Body feathers have spot at tip giving chicks a spotted pattern that obliterates body outline making them hard to see against a brown weedy back ground. None of the game strains I have reared possessed such spots. Two of the chicks are developing slate (gray) colored legs, two are what I call green-legged and the fifth seems intermediate. Are red jungle normally so variable or is this hallmark of hybridization with a domestic breed? American games at very least can exhibit both color variations I see.
