I have a red jungle fowl that has Been laying eggs in a deserted chicken coop.
I bought 5 new regular chicken hens for the coop (it has a self opening and closing door and a shame no one uses it).
The jungle fowl has laid 13 eggs and should start sitting any day now. My plan is to wait till she starts sitting before I move the five new 7 month old pullets into the coop. I’m planning on disabling the auto door so that they are all shut in for several days before opening it back up and letting them all free range all day. That way the new birds will hopefully recognize it as home. Come back at night to roost in.

Best to remove eggs until she starts setting(go broody)....you're just wasting eating eggs by letting them remain there, she may never go broody.
