Red nite guard light worth it or not

from what I have read they do help secure the area from predators. You can try a radio on a timer too that is set to a talk show type station. Put it very low not to disturb the neighbors but you would be surprised that the sound of faint voices should keep the predators away.

My nite guards came in the mail today. I placed them on movable poles 14 inches from the ground all on all 4 outside walls. Then I tied old cd's around the whole thing here and there to flash the lights around.
I got a couple of solar lights to put in the coop to comfort the chicks ok to comfort me that the chicks can see and won't be scared of the dark.
I will try to take pictures of the lights tonight after dark.

Does anyone still use these and think they work.

Night here and thought the.lights would be.brighter

Too funny!!!

I have to say, the only time my chicks have light after dark is if the kids carry a light out there cuz they forgot to do something in the coop/run before it got too dark. I have even gone out in the pitch dark with no lights to add chicks to the coop. Couldn't see a darn thing. Had to "feel" my way to the coop & try to fumble the latches all open & back closed by touch. Good thing I counted the chicks in the tote before I went out there or I may have missed one in the dark...lol

And before anyone says how mean I am to my chickens: THERE IS NO ELECTRIC IN THE COOP & NO WAY TO GET ANY THERE!!! So if I gotta do it all in the dark, they can too. I rarely take a light to the coop with me if I have to go after dark. Our biggest concern are about 10 stray cats that live in the warehouse 2 doors down & think the top of my coops & runs are their night time perch. My own cat even does this...lol

Nsampsel:D it's NITE GUARD not night light lol

Hope that link works as I'm on the iPad and linking is tricky for me on the iPad.
The light is suppose to look like a predictors eye so coons and other small animals shy away from the coop. It's solar there are some threads about the nite guard light on BYC it's where I learned about it.
The lites ae ouside the coop not inside the coop, I don't have lights or electric in the coop.

I was laffin at you putting in the solar lights for you instead of them so you wouldn't be worried that they couldn't see in the dark...lol

Oh well rofl with ya, I hate the dark outside, no neighbors and no lights out side makes it pretty dark. In the house the dark does not bother me .......outside I'm sure there is a zombie or a monster behind every bush lol. ( that's a joke). Watched one to many scary movies and one to many Stephen king books in my youth I guess.

I'm right there with ya...but my kids are constantly losing my flashlights...lol Therefore, I'm stuck goin out there in the pitch dark, fallin in holes the kids dug in the yard and fumbling with latches in the dark. If I can do all that, I think my chickens can manage to stay on their roosts or in their boxes for the night & not have to see anything...lol

As for the Night Guard lights, I doubt they would scare off the cats that are my biggest concern...lol
They are domesticated & are familiar with such lights.

And I KNOW it wouldn't scare away the KIDS that are my biggest daytime concern...lol...It would ATTRACT THEM!!!
