The breeder I got my oldest chickens from said that they were were a cross of a RIR rooster and a RIW hen. Is there a more specific name for this cross ( i.e. redstar or cinnamon queen)?
As i am a non-expert I would love any information on this cross ( I know I cannot say breed)- advantages, disadvantages, opinions, etc. One thing I would like an idea about is POL... we are at 22+ weeks, 2 of the 5 have had significant pink/ reddening of the face for over a month, their combs and wattles have enlarged slightly (maybe 1/2" tall combs); no where near what I have seen online of mature chickens.
Two of them are noticeably smaller than the rest, is this common within breeds (or in my case breed cross)? They have always had unlimited food and water, no signs of bugs or pests and look/ act happy.
