Is $6 a hen a good price? A person close by me is selling them at this price.
usually hens are only two to three dollers,so youd be getting it at double, maybe triple the amount you could get it at another place like a factory, but if you really want one then id go for it!
i mean it cant hurt to spend a couple extra dollars:yiipchick
$6 for a point of lay hen? Excellent price.
$6 for a chick - bad price.
$6 for an old hen - bad price.
That's what i was thinking... I am just so excited to get some chickens, I want to start from eggs or chicks, but kinda late in the season here...or so some locals are telling me...
What is a point of lay hen?
they lay eggs silly
and you sell those eggs, eat those eggs, have the friendship of the hen, ect.
Quote:it's a hen that's just on the point of laying. i've seen them going for as much as $15 locally, so $6 would be a sweet price.
Yoko, i think the OP was asking "what is a 'point of lay' hen", not what is the point of laying hens.
Quote:Where they are just starting to lay. Around these paarts, $10 for a point of lay hen is fair.
thanks all! you all are funny, and once again...so helpful!!!
