Is there such a thing as a registered pure breed chicken ?

As far as I'm aware there isn't a poultry registry. Though I could be totally wrong. If there IS, it's not very used, because I haven't even heard of any of the show birds being registered.

*There's supposed to be a "fancy breed association" here in FL (in Palm Beach, actually)-- but that wouldn't mean a registry, I don't think.

There is or was an attempt by the Marans assoc to compile a genetic lines database. Haven't heard anything on it in a while. beyond that there is no registry. I often wish there was. So many people get ripped off all the time buying what they are told are pure bred _______ chickens.
