Rescued chicken as a companion?

Are chickens intelligent - and should they be considered pets?

Hello - here is my unconventional profile
I am a young bantam rescued hen.
My human first got to understand how clever chickens are when he rescued a little rooster many years ago. Bozo became his close friend. Bozo was his cuddle companion and friend for six years. Until cancer and a subsequent treatment from our Vet, when his heart gave out.
I am a rescued hen with anger issues - and have been rescued by my human because someone called him and said I was a bad hen and was about to be culled. He took the challenge and today I am a home Hen. I have several feed areas, my nest (next to human on the bed) and loads of fresh water. I am slowly learning how to become an office and home hen.
Loads of education from all sides - knowing I can never replace Bozo, who was a memorable character.

It’s nice to meet you! I am the human in this flock. :)

My birds are only beloved pets. They sit on my lap and come when called, but prefer to sleep in their own hen house. I have needed to bring one inside occasionally to treat illness. One even took over my bathroom for a week!

I am continually amazed by their intelligence, personalities and emotions!
