Rescued Duck Breed, Gender, Age?

My neighbor found a baby duckling in her yard that appears to have been dropped by a predator. It is very healthy with only minor scratches and nobody around here is currently raising ducks as pets, only a farm 2 miles from here raising them as meat birds. I tried integrating it with my Silkie hens when she brought it to me yesterday, but they have week old chicks so they were not allowing it. We brought it in and set it up in our brooder pen with the lamp.
It follows us around the house and is adorable, so we will keep it as a pet.
Any ideas about how to tell age, gender, or breed?

Pekin maybe? Probably about a week or so old. Hard to tell the gender at this age but you could vent sex (which is harder) or voice sex when he/she's older. Since he's alone I would give him a little mirror, and a fuzzy hat or blanket (as long as he can't pull the fuzz off).
What a cutie!

That looks like a pekin duckling. Pekins are a meat duck, so it could have come from the place that raises meat ducks. If you are going to keep this duckling, is there any way you can get this duckling a friend? Ducks are very social and are much happier when they have other duck friends. Are there any local feed stores that have ducklings or can you buy a duckling from the people who raise meat ducks?

I was thinking the same thing, which is why I wanted to check breed and age. I would like to get one close in age and similar breed, if possible. It is absolutely adorable and we love it. We already have 2 kiddie pools in the big chicken coop and plenty of feed, so that is why the neighbor asked me to take it. I am a sucker for animals and have been raising chickens for 6 years now. Ducks are going to be a fun new adventure.

get like 2-3 female duckling, that way if it’s a girl it has lots of friends to hang out with (and you get eggs) ! but if it’s a boy, that way you have a good ratio

Looks like that predator must have flown with that duckling for 2 miles. It need a container of water so it can dunk it’s head something like this. And CB it’s going to need some supplementation of niacin if that chick starter ducks need much more than chicks. Being a Pekin they grow super fast an can develop leg problems so the niacin is very important. Looks like the stork brought you a precious baby 💓 info on why niacin is so important to leg health. Looks to be around 10 days 2 weeks . No way to tell sex at that age.
