Good morning! Yesterday afternoon my husband mowed up a pheasant hen with the swather, and when we came back by babies where running every where... felt so bad so we jumped out and caught a couple before the hawks came in and found the rest... I now have 2 little orphaned chicks.. what do I feed them? All I had on hand last night was chicken layer crumble and scratch. Should I dig up some worms for them this morning? My kids went and picked a bunch of cosha weed and alfalfa plants to make a cover for them in the bird cage we had on hand. We put them in front of an electric heater as I don't have a heat lamp and wood box.. (never raised chicks before)

They need gamebird feed, in other words at least 26% protein, although 28% or higher is best. Sometimes they sell small bags.

They need a lamp or a heating pad, too. And a top on the box, pheasants FLY very young.

And put rocks or marbles in the waterer, as they can drown in it.
