I decided to bring 20 of my ducks to the Fryeburg Fair this year. I have been working on some of these breeds for up to 4 years now and figured it was about time I show them. Normally I start out small. But since I didn't have time to show at any of the smaller fairs, my first ever show and fair was the biggest one in Maine! In the adult class, I got 1st with my black and white ancona hen (she also got Best in Breed and Best in Variety), 1st with my lavender and white ancona drake, 1st with my Cayuga hen, 1st with my Cayuga drake (also got Best Large Duck), 2nd with my chocolate muscovy hen, 1st with my blue fawn muscovy drake (also got Best in Variety and Best in Breed), 2nd for my pekin drake, 1st for my pekin hen, 1st for my khaki campbell hen and 1st for my welsh harlequin hen. In the Junior class (my sister entered these ducks) she got 1st with 2 cayuga hens (one old one young), 1st with her cayuga drake, 1st with her welsh harlequin drake, 1st with her crested Blue swedish drkae (also got Best in Breed and Best in Variety), 1st pekin hen, 2nd Pekin drake, 1st chocolate muscovy hen, 1st black and white ancona hen, and best for last, her khaki campbell hen got 1st and Best Reserve Grand Champion and her Khaki drake got 1st, Best Large Duck, Best Jr Waterfowl, and Best Grand Champion! Not bad for a first show! We just thought we would share our excitement! And if you happen to be going to the fair before the end next sunday, be sure to check them out in the poultry barn. In the adult class we are number 24 and in the junior class we are number 14 (their numbers are on the bottom of their tags) I have included a picture of the khakis. It's hard to see the birds but I will try to get better pics to post later!
